Our Work With TEAM Japan

dot"Japan Transformed By Christ." That's the broad vision of what we want to see in our lifetime. We believe this will happen through God's power as we do the following:

dotKyehee and I want to work with the Japanese church to find new ways to sow the gospel seed. Working under TEAM, we believe we can bring two things to help reach Japan. First, our training, creativity, and ministry experience. We've been actively involved in ministry for 25 years, and although we still feel we have so much to learn, we believe we will be able to help make a difference.

dotSecond, we have an outsider's viewpoint. We must be sensitive to culture, but sometimes it is helpful for someone to come from "outside the box" of culture and tradition that can hinder the gospel.

dotWe want to use the experience we have leading small groups and cell ministries to deepen their theological roots, and to raise up new leaders. Over 75% of Japanese pastors are between the ages of 55 and 75. There are more pastors over 80 than under 30. This is a great crisis in leadership, and we must focus on training new leaders for the Japanese church to go forward.

How do we build churches that will be a light in the spiritual darkness of Japan?

dotWhether we partner with Japanese churches, or serve in an area that has no church, all our efforts in evangelism and discipleship will be focused towards planting churches.

dotWe want to see the gospel take root in Japan. We want to see strong churches led by biblically-literate, Christ-honoring Japanese pastors. We want to see the Church so well-established that Japan sends out missionaries to other countries. This will happen by taking the gospel to those who have not heard, and by planting vibrant, assertive churches.

dotYou can be a part of what God is doing in Japan.
