God Has Prepared Us

Passion: Our heart to bring hope to Japan.

Over the past 10 years, God has increasingly burdened us to reach the Japanese people with the gospel of Christ. I think this started in 1996, when I visited the city of Fukuoka on the western tip of Japan. It was a beautiful city with friendly people, and I began to wonder about how the gospel had been received there.

I began to study about Japan, and the more I learned, the more my heart was broken. I could not believe such a modern, educated, creative society had such an aching soul. Christ filled my heart with compassion for these wonderful people too often troubled with a melancholy emptiness.

I was touched deeply as I learned how common suicide is in Japan, even among the very young. I know those feelings of hopelessness and depression, and I know what a difference Christ has made in my life.

Through His grace, Christ gives a new start, a new hope for the future, and a new purpose in life to those who have none. Christ is THE ANSWER to the deep hurts and longings of the Japanese soul. The more these thoughts grew in my heart, the more I yearned to see Japan set free and transformed by Christ.

I learned how few Japanese have heard the gospel, and my burden grew more. I was surprised to learn they are the largest unreached people group in the world. And how few missionaries there are in Japan.
